yk I can't stop going back, in my head, to the original milgram experiments. With the fake electric shock buzzer, and the prerecorded screams.

With the fact that it was all fictional, but the mental toll it took on the actual subjects was severe enough to cause significant distress.

I keep thinking about how, after reaching a certain threshold of punishment, the prerecorded screams would stop.

How the experiment was really about how far you could push a person to do terrible things before they broke down completely.

And how the supposed "correct" way to act was to refuse to punish them at all.
